We get many inquiries asking what is the difference between the Lourdes Hydrofix versus the HW1 portable hydrogen generator. Therefor, we decided to write this article comparing the Hydrofix and the HW1. Let’s break down the info clearly showing the differences of both these units.
Hydrogen Rich Water Content
Hydrogen rich water is why we seek these generating machines, and saturation levels are super important. The Lourdes Hydrofix is reported to enrich the water to 1.6ppm of hydrogen.
The HW1 enriches the water to 2.0ppm and beyond. A quite significant increase over the Lourdes Hydrofix. Not only that, the HW1 reaches that saturation in 14 minutes when the Hydrofix takes much longer for less hydrogen saturation.
Plate & Electrode Material
Having high quality electrodes is imperative so that toxic metals are not leeched into the water. The Lourdes Hyrdofix is reported to have pure-grade Titanium for their electrodes.
The HW1 uses advanced technology for the electrode plates and utilizes high grade Platinum coated Titanium plates from expert plate makers in South Korea. To read more about the technology we use you can go here.
Not only that, we had our water tested that was generated with the HW1 by a third party Laboratory called IEH Analytical Laboratories in Seattle Washington. Even though we already had a certificate of analysis from our manufacturer that showed no toxic metals were being leeched into the water, we went above and beyond and hired an outside laboratory to confirm. We had them test for Aluminum, Titanium, Chromium, Nickel, Molybdenum, and Nitrate. ZERO metals and ZERO nitrates were detected. Rest assured, you are getting the cleanest hydrogen rich water when you buy a unit from us. As far as we know, we are the only company who has contracted third party services verifying the purity of hydrogen water and posted it to the public. We stand behind our products, and we care for our customers.

Plastic Versus Glass
Most of us know that plastics are an endocrine disruptor and poison the body by mimicking estrogen. A little known fact is that the new plastics that are supposed to be less harmful, are actually as harmful and possibly even more!
“Chemical used to replace BPA in plastic accelerates embryonic development, disrupts reproductive system “
“Our study shows that making plastic products with BPA alternatives does not necessarily leave them safer,” […] “Our findings are frightening — consider it the aquatic version of the canary in the coal mine.”

The Lourdes Hydrofix does not list what kind of plastic is used for their water container, they only list what is not used.
“BPA & BHPF free highest Japanese quality”
Hydrofix Website
We cannot speculate as to what kind of plastic is used because they do not inform the customer, they only mention what is not being used. One thing we do find concerning is the new Hydrofix units heat up significantly more then the older units. And anytime heat and plastic combine, leeching of toxic chemicals increases several times over by breaking down the chemical bond of the plastic. And as you can see from this article and study below, most plastics leech hormone-like chemicals.
Most plastic products, from sippy cups to food wraps, can release chemicals that act like the sex hormone estrogen, according to a study in Environmental Health Perspectives.
The study found these chemicals even in products that didn’t contain BPA, a compound in certain plastics that’s been widely criticized because it mimics estrogen. Many plastic products are now marketed as BPA-free, and manufacturers have begun substituting other chemicals whose effects aren’t as well known.

Many of you know from the Ray Peat community we already have way too much estrogen versus progesterone. Limiting estrogen mimickers is paramount.
That brings us to the Life Giving Store Hw1, our water container is made from glass. We will not drink out of anything plastic if we can help it. All our personal drink ware is made of glass. We drink hydrogen rich water every day and want it to be the highest quality water available, so glass only made sense.
Portability
The Lourdes hydrofix is a pitcher type system, and although you could move it around, it will not be nearly as portable as the HW1. In this society we are on the move, and what better way to stay in good health then to have your hydrogen generator with you at all times. The HW1 makes this easy.
Ease Of Maintenance
It looks like the Lourdes Hydrofix is fairly easy to clean. The HW1 is also very easy to clean, just add a bit of citric acid or vinegar and let it soak for a few hours and you are good to go.
The Lourdes Hydrofix has a cartridge that needs to be replaced which costs $49.95. The only thing you will need to replace on the HW1 every years or two is the battery which is under $15.
Warranty
The Lourdes Hydofix comes with a 1 year warranty. The HW1 also comes with a 1 year warranty plus a life long free labor refurbishment plan where we will change your battery or replace defective parts. You just pay for parts and shipping.
Return Policy & Cancellation Policy
The way a company handles their return and cancellation policy speaks volumes on how much they stand behind their product along with showing how much they care for their customers.
The Lourdes Hydrofix has a 2.5% cancellation fee if you cancel your item before it is shipped. If you place an order and change your mind quickly, you are penalized. At the current price, that will incur a $59.99 cancellation fee. We will charge you zero cancellation fee’s if you cancel before shipment.
To return the product, you have 14 days after receiving your Lourdes Hydrofix. And it must be returned in it’s original condition. Up to a 30% restocking fee will be charged which at current price of $2,395.95 would be $719.98 fee for simply returning the Hydrofix. Here is the direct quote from the site:
S&H costs, taxes, customs fees, and any additional fees are non-refundable. If you receive free shipping from us the S&H cost will be deducted from the refund amount. Up to a 30% restocking fee may apply for a product approved for refund. If you are approved, your refund will be processed within three (3) business days*. (*Processing time varies by each credit card company/ bank and will be reflected in your account or statement accordingly.) For the HW1 you have a 60 day no hassle return policy. Customer covers return shipping and we will refund your purchase minus shipping + 20% restocking fee.
In Conclusion
As you can see, when it comes to value, portability, hydrogen saturation, no plastic water container, and ease of maintenance the HW1 wins hands down. There is no need to spend thousands of dollars when you can get better results and higher hydrogen content for a fraction of the price.
