Pau D’Arco Inner Bark comes from the Tabebuia avellanedae tree, native to South America. Only the inner bark is used, as this is where the highest concentration of active compounds is found.

After searching extensively for a high-quality source, we found a Pau D’Arco that stands out. This inner bark comes from mature wild Tabebuia avellanedae trees in Brazil and is carefully prepared to preserve its natural active compounds. We believe the difference in quality is noticeable — from the clean taste to the overall experience.

Pau D’Arco has been traditionally used for generations to support immune function, digestive health, and overall vitality. It contains naturally occurring compounds such as lapachol and beta-lapachone, which have been studied for their antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. It is commonly prepared as a tea and enjoyed for its earthy, slightly sweet flavor.

Our Pau D’Arco Inner Bark is packaged in an 8 oz bag with a scoop included.

Pau D’Arco inner bark is traditionally prepared as a tea.

As a dietary supplement drink 1–3 cups daily, or as directed by a healthcare professional. Best consumed warm.

How to Prepare Pau D’Arco Tea:
– Use 1 heaping tablespoon (approximately 15 g) of Pau D’Arco inner bark per 2 cups of water.
– Bring to a boil, then reduce to a gentle simmer for 15–20 minutes while covered.
– Strain well (a muslin cloth or fine strainer works best).
– Add lemon, honey, or your preferred natural sweetener once cooled slightly.

Note: Do not use cast iron or aluminum cookware. Glass, stainless steel, or ceramic is recommended.

Key Research Findings:

  • Antimicrobial and antifungal properties
Gupta, M.P. et al. (2000). Antimicrobial activity of selected Panamanian plants. Pharmaceutical Biology, 38(1), 13–16.
Studies have shown that extracts from Tabebuia species exhibit antimicrobial and antifungal activity.
  • Antifungal activity of lapachol and beta-lapachone
Guiraud, P. et al. (1994). Comparison of antibacterial and antifungal activities of lapachol and beta-lapachone. Planta Medica, 60(4), 373–374.
Research demonstrated that lapachol and beta-lapachone have notable antifungal effects.
  • Anti-inflammatory effects
Byeon, S.E. et al. (2008). In vitro and in vivo anti-inflammatory effects of taheebo, Tabebuia avellanedae. Journal of Ethnopharmacology, 119(1), 145–152.
Pau D’Arco extracts have demonstrated the ability to reduce inflammatory markers in both cell and animal studies.
  • Antioxidant activity of Tabebuia avellanedae
Park, B.S. et al. (2003). Antioxidant activity and characterization of volatile constituents of Taheebo (Tabebuia impetiginosa). Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 51(1), 295–300.
Compounds found in Pau D’Arco showed significant antioxidant activity in laboratory testing.
  • Beta-lapachone and cellular energy metabolism
Bey, E.A. et al. (2007). An NQO1- and PARP-1-mediated cell death pathway induced in non-small-cell lung cancer cells by beta-lapachone. Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 104(28), 11832–11837.
Research has explored how beta-lapachone influences cellular energy pathways and metabolic processes.

Metabolic Research Perspectives:
Within bioenergetic and metabolic research traditions, Pau D’Arco is often valued for its content of naphthoquinones, particularly beta-lapachone. These compounds are studied for their potential to influence cellular energy metabolism and support the body’s natural resilience. Traditional use of Pau D’Arco tea has long emphasized its role in promoting vitality and overall well-being.

From a low toxin perspective, Pau D’Arco aligns well with those seeking to reduce their overall toxic burden. Sourcing from mature wild trees in Brazil using sustainable harvesting practices helps minimize exposure to agricultural chemicals and environmental contaminants. Additionally, its traditionally recognized antimicrobial and antifungal properties may support the body’s natural ability to manage microbial balance in the gut, which can play a role in reducing the production of undesirable byproducts and supporting the body’s detoxification processes.

Delicious and Efficacious
Outside of cinnamon, this is the best tasting bark around. The tea tastes very much like vanilla and has a warming effect. It is a pleasant way to combat endotoxin-producing microbes. It also possesses anti-estrogenic effects according to some studies.

Individually they're have been instrumental changes for the healthier witness by dozens more. When brewing tea sometimes seems it may cause one a little unwanted effects though quite possible due to die off or an excretion of something undesirable towards something much healthier and greater. All in all i believe this to have found a potent, clean, and reliable source for PaD; it seems to be durable and long lastime. Several have witness potential benefits by placing a decent amount in cheese cloth and tying tightly. . When bathing one can use to rub an and soak/drip across the body. .
