If you experience too fast of a heart rate, heart palpitations, anxiety, body temperature is too high, fatigue or shaky feelings then you might have taken too much whole food desiccated thyroid. You must reduce the amount taken. Effects of over stimulation should resolve in a few hours. If it persists longer then 24 hours seek qualified health from a healthcare provider.
When starting to bring in highly nutritious whole foods a small percentage of customers might experience a "re-feeding syndrome". Below is Dr. Lonsdale giving a short description of this healing reaction. Although he is directly talking about thiamine it indeed carries over to all the highly nutritious nutrients contained within glands and organs:
"It also has been mentioned on this website as “refeeding syndrome”. When you have been deficient in thiamine, in particular, for a long time, the paradox is apt to be prolonged because you are resuscitating a mechanism that has been broken. ...... It is to do with an explosion in oxygen utilization. The longer you have been deficient, the longer the paradox and it is entirely and completely unpredictable. My experience over many years is that it is the best prediction of ultimate success." - Dr. Derrick Lonsdale
This is why we suggest starting low and slow so that the potential for Re-feeding syndrome is lessened. As Dr. Lonsdale mentions, mechanisms that were taken off line by the body due to not having the proper nutrition to support it are now being brought back on line. This sudden demand for oxygen utilization can become uncomfortable for some. The bright side as Dr. Lonsdale says, this reaction bodes well for a good outcome. So again, please start slow and low, and if the re-feeding syndrome becomes too much simply back off. If even one pill is too much then starting with Beef Heart might be helpful due to the tremendous amount of CoQ10 along with other nutrients which will help the oxygen utilization process.
